Now Accepting Kindergarten to 5th Grade Out-of-Zone Applications!
Did you know that about 50% of our students attend from outside our attendance zone? Please click on the ENROLLMENT Tab at the top of this page to learn how you can apply for your child to attend Shreve Island on contract. We typically accept around 50 Kindergartners from out-of-zone each year as well as several in each grade 1st through 5th.
Kindergarten Virtual Open House
Kindergarten Virtual Open House will be Thursday, February 11th at 6:00 PM via Zoom. We will present information on our school and instructional program and discuss the application process for those living outside our attendance zone. The zoom link is https://zoom.us/j/94158036601
Lilah's King Cake Fundraiser!
Shreve Island is partnering with Lilah’s King Cakes to raise money for student rewards and supplies. All orders must be online through LocalLevel. Flavors available are Cream Cheese, Cinnamon and Cream, Pralines and Cream, Bavarian Cream, Strawberries and Cream, and Raspberry and Cream. The last day to order is January 22nd and pickup will be at Shreve Island on February 2nd. All flavors are $25. Please enter the child’s name and homeroom when prompted.
Free Dress Thursdays Fundraiser
Only $10 for 13 free dress days! Free Dress Thursdays include every Thursday we are in school from January 14th to April 22nd.To participate in the Free Dress Thursdays, sign up on payforit.net (we can’t accept cash). Select “Free Dress Thursdays” when you log into your account. If you don’t have an account you will need to have your child’s student ID number to create an account. Teachers will have a list of which students have paid to participate. You may join the fundraiser anytime and participate in the remaining Thursdays for $10 (still a bargain!). Dr. Elizabeth Balch is SIE Teacher of the Year!
Congratulations to Shreve Island 2020 -2021 Teacher of the Year Dr. Elizabeth Balch, Ed.D! Dr. Balch teaches 3rd grade ELA and Social Studies and has taught at Shreve Island for 6 years. She even went to school here! Dr. Balch is an amazing teacher who is constantly finding new ways to challenge and engage her students. The kids love her! She is committed to continual professional development and earned her Doctorate of Education this past year. She was a invaluable help to her colleagues this year as she led workshops to help all our teachers learn how to use Canvas. She is also our Leader in Me Lighthouse Coordinator, leading the Faculty Lighthouse Team and Junior Lighthouse Team in helping all of us implement the 7 Habits. She is Shreve Island's biggest cheerleader and steps up to help anyone whenever needed. We are so proud to have Dr. Balch representing Shreve Island as Teacher of the Year!
Bella Powell is Sheve Island Student of the Year 2020 - 2021
Congratulations to Bella Powell, Shreve Island Student of the Year! Bella has been an outstanding leader at Shreve Island since Kindergarten and has maintained a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average during her entire academic career. She has been a member of National Elementary Junior Honor Society since the fourth grade. She has demonstrated excellent leadership and always models the 7 Habits. She has been a member of the Junior Lighthouse Team for two years. Her favorite Habit is Habit #1: Be Proactive. She believes in being kind to others, being yourself and living your best life. In her free time, Bella enjoys softball, gymnastics, hunting, fishing, boating, serving at her church and spending time with her family and friends. Her career goal is to become pediatrician. Her best friend is her brother. Her friends say she cares about others, is a great listener and helps them with their problems. We are so proud to have Bella represent Shreve Island as our 2020 - 2021 Student of the Year!

Our very own Peyton Hamilton was featured on KTBS Channel 3 news for organizing a blanket drive for Homeless Shreveport Residents.

Peyton is collecting donations through Dec. 9. We want to help Peyton with her cause! If you'd like to participate, next Monday through Wednesday, you can send BLANKETS OR ADULT SIZED COATS/JACKETS (New or excellent condition) to school with your child to school if you would like to participate.
You can also bring blankets and jackets to Strawn's Eat Shop on Kings Highway, and ask for Karen. Donations are also being accepted at Casa Jimador on Line Avenue, if you ask for Tiffanie.
Right now, they plan to give out the blankets, sweatshirts and hoodies personally in downtown Shreveport in early December.
